Joe, I've found when something is not going right, put it away. Go read, watch tv whatever. There's nothing like pushing the work when it's not working out or if you're in a sour mood (this one I know about for sure).~Gary

I agree also Joe,
When it doesn't go right at the desk......walk away from those brushes.....file and clean-up another figure....groundwork......read latest issue of fig mags....anything but force yourself to continue when things arn't going right. We all get days like that and more will come :(

Thanks Guy,

I am taking you and Gary's advise. I hope things will go better tonight but if not I always have the special/extra's DVD to watch.

Joe

Very, very nice, Joe. If you give him as pipe, don't make it a calabash. Unless you are portraying an actor rather than the real S. Holmes. :)

Quang,

Sorry :( It is the Pirates of the Caribbean. I guess I won't be seeing you. ;) I had to watch something that had the sea and the sun. I am about to freeze here in the crazy weather. It is just plain ugly these last coulple of days and I needed the sun.

John,

He will be holding a pistol in his right hand. I should have a few pictures up in the next day or so, I hope.

Sorry :( It is the Pirates of the Caribbean.
Cool, I got this on monday (the day it was released) & I'm already planning a 90mm figure Not a skeleton though, that's been done! (plus i'm not that good :( )
I think i might need to actually finish a few things first though

Holmes is looking good btw, I'm getting more interested in figures that are a bit off the beaten track

Simon,

If you look at disc 2, in the image gallery there are some nice drawings. I too had a few thoughts of my own but thought that I better work on what I have and the others on my to do list before I go adding another. :(

Hee Hee!

Just had a quick peep & I know I said no skeletons but that full length zombie pirate with the dreadlocks (in the concept art section) looks extremely interesting (it would mean sculpting a whole skeleton in 90mm though - but gordy's already shown how that's done over on M:U:G (y) - but i'm not sure I'm up to that as yet ;) )
There's always Captain Jack though ey!? (Again Gordy'll come to the rescue with the Flintlocks article here!)

Cool................ I think I feel a change in the wind says I

(must get a DVD rom so I can get some screen captures :) )

Simon,

I agree. :) That Captain Jack looks mighty tempting! I think we may see a few figures come from this DVD, at least we can only hope.

You should have a go at the special effects "Moonlight Becomes Ye"

Joe, You guys really need to stop! Like everyone else I have a million projects in line, now add pirates. I hope they're not into cutting to get to the front! There is just too much to do, I give up. :( ~Gary

Gary,

I give up myself. :( I would love to get into these guys but as you said and as I know, we all have things we have to get to first.

Here are a few pictures of the Sherlock with his left arm. I don't know why I have spent so much time on it because all that will be seen is just about elbow down. I am also including a first attempt at doing an original figure. I wanted to show everyone that there is always room for improvement. I keep this guy on my desk to remind me to try harder each time I sit down and that anyone can do this if they just listen to good advise and study others work. I am not saying we will all be Great but we can all have a little fun. :) So I hope everyone can get a good chuckle out of my Archer.

Joe

Joe, thanks for posting your "first", wish I had mine. It's all a matter of "try try again". With each piece your work improves. Though your Sherlock is a simple figure, in some ways it's your best. As I pointed out, sculpting a bulky overcoat/greatcoat realistically is not easy. With a few placed folds you've done it. Anders I hope your looking at this stuff, you too are on your way and the tips and support from this site are priceless.~Gary

Gary,

Thanks. This is what I meant when I said that people should look and listen. I have learned so much from seeing your work and the tips that you have given me. I have also studied the work of Quang and I have several of his kits that are priceless for refrence.

I had thought many times to pitch this little fellow but I am glad I did keep him around. :)
