That, was the film 'Atonement'. around 2011! I know place well, my cherry got popped on these beaches, so I should remember them.
It was filmed at the 'South-Gare', (For the dunes), and probably 'Marske-by the-sea', two mile further on for the open beach.

Hmmm.....for a bunch of blokes who have had the crap kicked out of them....and are crowded on a pier....about to get shot and bombed to pieces....
they all look remarkably clean shaven....freshly kitted out...well fed...and with nice new helmets...fresh as daisies

Walks on those beaches will never be the same again following that revelation, however it was probably just one of many.
