Hi All.
Well I am pleased to say that No. 2. of Mick's Mick's will be released shortly. This Bust is 1/9th Scale Full Bust of an Officer of The 8th ( King's Royal Irish) Hussar 1891 who were stationed at Nelson Barracks Norwich.
You will note the what appears the Cap Lines on the front of the jacket and of course the Cap Badge identify this officer to be of the 8th Hussars.

This Jacket was used when Off duty and around town for minor social engagements, one cannot say never but rarely worn of Foreign Service. It was also worn without the Pouch Belt.
This picture is not of the 8th but shows Pouch Belts not being worn.

I included the Blackthorn Walking Stick as it was a popular piece of kit with Irish Regiments Now & Then. However if it is not to your liking it can always be re-shaped into a walking out cane. Riding crop or whip.

I would Like to Thank Offo for the excellent job he did for me with the information supplied. The braiding is outstanding Well done by friend.

Last but not least Ian from Ellies who markets them via Ellies Miniatures.

The Next one to be released will be that of an NCO 5th Royal Irish Lancers.
Thanks.
Mick

When I was making enquiries about the use of patrol Jackets some time ago You asked what was I up to now you know.
Pleased you like him.
It will be nice to see what some of the quality painters on PF can do with the Blacks and the Blue's

The last part of the 19th century saw the art of military tailoring at its zenith. A prime example of that art was the undress patrol jacket worn by cavalry regiments. Which is a very Dark Blue/ Prussian Blue .Heavily braided with black mohair lace on the chest and edged all round with black Astrakhan fur, Every regiment had its own (and in some cases unique) pattern of jacket. These were all illustrated in the1900 regulations.

Above are examples of the jackets worn by the regiment. Note the black mohair Busby lines worn around the front of the 8th Hussars patrol jacket. A unique feature peculiar to this regiment. ONLY

Whilst doing the research I found a number of entries re marriage to the local girls in Norwich.
