Looking good Colin. Another beast.

Two investments to get u back on the bench... An industrial paint sprayer for the house (and base coating those bloody huge busts) and a couple of Go train/Metro passes for the girls... But don't tell them it was me who said that.

Colin

Sorry Colin, I've missed the start of this as well, bloody typical of you to choose another simple little sculpt, I think it's time you picked up your game mate, it's not cutting it around here anymore. I'll be keeping a close eye on this one Colin, great work!
Regards
Chris.

Another of your masterpieces in progress Colin! Amazing work so far and subject.
The complexity of his uniform as i can see it in the painting is unique so is his face.
Waiting to see them sculpted from your hands and painting those captivating eyes!

I have added the barrel sash and have laced the front of his dolman with waxed twine. The spherical centre butttons are glass beeds with the centres filled with magic sculpt. The other demi-round buttons are ball of MS flattenede with a finger.

His left arm has been added without much regard to finish as it will be obscured by the pelisse....its just a form for the drapery of that garment. Next add will be his cartridge belt and box and then the pelisse. Right arm and chair back will be last.

These are low quality iPad pix.

Them pics is good enough for me Colin

Terrific stuff, I've used waxed string for lacing, it works well, This is coming along apace now

hope there's less problems and swearing than Colbert mate, ATB

Already knocked him off the bathroom counter and decapitated him. Barrage of F words met with whithering glance from wife and the logical question "why do you always wander around the house with your latest project?" Anyone else do that?

........ Anyone else do that?

Yes, always.
I have started another figure and was making a ring for a canteen strap. fitted the strap and pulled a bit tight, course the whole lot fell off.

Looking great Colin.
regards

Oh Colin NO!! I was about to compliment you on the fine progress.
So sorry to hear this bad news. Will this be a rescue mission or a complete back to square one?
Happy days,
Keith

Colin,

That lacing looks good ..you must be very patient with oh so much more skill than me sure !!

......do you do the strands individually or as one continuous cord?

Glad all is well post surgery ...as for walking about the house I would do if I could work out how to open the door to get out of my man cave ..aka the garage!

Looking forward to seeing more

Hey Kevin. The cords are done in single strands for the right side and in longer looped single strands for the left. Attached with carpenter's glue. The small loops at the outer ends, both outside the buttons and between buttons, are single short strands. Attached with super glue. I don't do work with a single continuous lace like the original as I am not a trained seamstress and attaching it would give me a stroke.

Hi Colin,

Another great sculpt and historical study.
I believe that very soon you'll have all the french officers home ;)
The head looks amazing. Keep up the good work.

Hi Colin,

I definitely wander around the rest of the house with my in-progress work. I usually end up in the 2nd floor loo - nice, diffuse north light in there - wife just shakes her head when I emerge...

Cheers,

Brian

Hi Colin

He's coming on a treat- I bust things too when I want to show them. The old lady now says when the figure is completly finished then you can show me...

Cheers
