Ivan: the adverts they really add a colourful touch ... from were did you manage to get them?
A friend of mine collect signs like this. I took some photos, scaled them down to the right size in photoshop and printed them on photo paper.

Per Olav!

Just amazing! You definitely catch skandinavian look in that building. We have same kind of buildings here up north and I know how they look like. Are you sure you didn't use some kind of reduction machine?;) worn off paint is just perfect!

Cheers Mikko

My dear friend Per Olav,it has been quite a time !!!! Its a lovely workof yours as usual, full of originality taste and skill. I am simply jealous !!! Bravo

I was so lucky to get the opportunity to look at this one live when Per Olav brought it to our "Christmas workshop" at our local IPMS Chapter.

It is a truly amazing piece of work. Very inspiring...

hello !

fantastic texture job ...never seen wood like that before ...
Can you tell us your technic to paint the wood ? ( the wood pieces are real wood repainted ? )

thanks ;)

Hello Guys, sorry for the late answer.

Henrik, maybe I get the diorama ready by Landskonkuransen ;)

Romain:
-The wood strip is Basswood
-make wood grain with an wire brush
-remove fuss with steel wool
-give the strip a wash with a dark stain.
-Soak the strip with white spirit
-when the strip is still wet, paint the strip with acrylic paint ( I used Andrea)
-After 1-2 minutes start to remove the paint by tapping the surface with Scotch tape, do this to you get the wanted look.

This prosess was done following an article by Chuck Doan a master in making realistic buildings.

I have also done one of the figures ready, at least the sculping, a Norwegian on his way to his favourite fishing place :)

Cheers

That is really great. I love the pose and overall look of the figure. It's work like this that puts a vignette or diorama over the top.~Gary

I love the building, but I'm with Gary, it's the human characters that will bring life to the scene. Great stuff Per Olav, keep us posted!

Hello Per Olav, its good to see more of this work you are doing. It is truly fantastic! I look forward to seeing your next posts. Best regards, Kevin

Thank s a lot guys

Its always a challenge to get something "extra" out of a diorama. This scene is very "quiet/normal" compared to some of my latest work.
I think the challenge in this project is like Gary said to get something extra out of the human caracters.

Hopefully setting the scene to Norway in 1940 will also make it a little different from the more usual Berlin/Bulge dioramas ;)

I'll keep you updated

Cheers
