Starting another pick up from the Chicago show. Nuts' extraordinary likeness of Damian Lewis in his role as Lt. Dick Winters in Band of Brothers.

I decided to start with the helmet and work down so here it is, probably 95% complete. I tried to paint in the spades on the sides of the helmet. These spades, and a dash underneath designate 2/506 or the 101 Airborne Division. I also painted in the hint of a Lt. rank bar at the front and an officer's rank bar at the rear. I added "WINTERS" and his actual serial # to the strap at the back of the helmet (for flavour). Lots of inks were used, including some silver ink drastically diluted to get a hint of metallic finish. I painted steel around the rim as this was a high wear area and in examples I have seen, the metal often shows.

I'll definitely be following.

Thanks for the support gents.

Ray - we are starting a new South Western Ontario figure club with monthly meetings at Hornet Hobbies in North East Toronto. First meeting this Sunday at 11 AM. You are welcome to jump in the car and pop over as its open to all (same for anyone else in the area reading this).

M1 mostly done except for some inks on the metals. Wood is Liquitex pro bottled acrylics wet on wet - with inks washed over the top to unite colours and provide a wax-like sheen. After these photos were taken, it was finished and protected with a spray of Humbrol semi-gloss varnished (canned). Perfect for oiled wood

I somehow missed this
What a great likeness!
The helmet looks awesome... the face is excellent, I wouldn't fiddle with it much more for risk of undoing what you've done.

The wood grain on the Gerrand is fantastic... well done!

See you tomorrow. South Western Ontario Figure Painters... Sounds very organized. I think we need crested vests to wear to meetings ;)
