Hello fellow figureres :)

I have a simple question for you. I'm looking to find the match of Indigo of W&N with other oil paint brands (Maimeri, Van Gogh etc etc etc). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all in advance.

May be not so simple... :)

Are you looking for a pigment comparison? All the oil manuf list the pigments in the color charts.

I do not have a direct comparison for WN. I have used Rembrandt and like that very much.

Yes Keith i'm looking for a pigment comparison. I would like to know the Indigo comparison of N&W with other companies.. Rembrandt for example. Does it have a color similar or the same with Indigo of W&N?

A quick check of the Rembrandt and WN sites...

Rembrandt:
PB15:6/PB29/Pbk9
WN:
PB15/PB29/Pbk7

There is a difference it looks to me in the Carbon black make up of these two. I am NOT an expert. But, I do know that quality of pigment and filler can vary even among the same manufacturer.

You should be able to get similar info from other manuf sites.

Hopefully some one with greater expertise can help.

Here is a link to the WN chemical and pigment info for you :)

Good luck!

Keith beat me to it :) The two blacks will make practically no difference between these paints, it's the PB15 (phthalocyanine blue) that is the most variable colour here.

The other two colours are French Ultramarine and a carbon black, in combination there is quite possibly quite a difference between one maker's colour and another I'm afraid. Even if they look very similar from the tube (they'll appear nearly black) it is almost certain they will show different characteristics when mixed with white or used thinly - the tint and undercolour.
