For figures I don't think acrylics are faster than oils at all. I still still take forever to finish a figure, even after switching from oils and enamels.
Besides, as acrylic painter my goal is not to emulate an oils finish, but to emulate reality....

It is interesting how the oils vs acrylics discussion keeps popping up (not you Roger, I mean in the video).
Paints are just tools to achieve a finish...?

Anyway, this guy obviously knows his stuff, nice to listen in (for a while...;-)
Cool shirt as well.
Would love to paint those folds (in acrylics).

I don't think that has to do with attention span Roger...this guy is pretty full of himself. I admit to have fast forwarded him every now and then...

I did watch the whole thing in one go, and it was interesting, but I kept wishing he'd paid Kenneth Brannagh to do it for him. I am an oil painter because I enjoy having the time to pratt around with the paint and I don't think I've got the self discipline for acrylics. Love the Pirate costume though:whistle:.
Thanks for posting, Gary.

Here's my pirate wisdom on oil vs acrylic!

Paint is just colour & the medium is horses for courses. Oil, acrylic, enamel, gouache, eye shadow etc all have their strengths & weaknesses. Why make life harder, just work with the strengths of each.
