Ok, this is my first attempt at doing whites on a WWII figure and a it has been a long time since I tried to do anything WWII. I had started this figure last year but just got around to finishing him up. Thanks for looking and all comments welcomed.

Excellent work overall. I love the way
you handled the camo. I think the face
needs a bit more definition....

That cammo looks great Joe,i agree a bit of weathering round the boots and trouser bottoms would benefit the figure.

Real nice looking figure.

Joe,
That camo is awesome.
Now my remarks (have to write something ;) )
- i really would like to see more shading in the face and a rework of the eyes.
- If you really want white trousers i recommend that you do a high white on the foulds (you know where). That's the only point where you have to use clear white. I should do no more then that, but you have to do it because the white stands more out then.
- The rest is absolutely painted good. I like what you did with this figure.

Hope that i sound not to harsh

Joe, white seems ok to me.

For some one depicted walking through mud, he does seem a bit clean, but then it is a matter of personal taste.

Short of putting on white pants, and trudging through some mud , then photographing the results, well, Its all personal taste.

Rest of the figure, looks good to me.

cheers

Joe,

I think you've made a good start on the white, but you've still got some way to go IMO. White doesn't stay white for very long, particularly in muddy terrain.

My suggestion would be to change the base colour to be a very light grey, and save the pure white colour for the upper highlights only. I'd do this with a series of grey washes over the trousers (and the reversible lapels of the jacket).

Mud is a reality in combat, and unless you're painting him coming straight from the Q Store with a new pair of boots and pants, he's going to have mud splatters, dirt and grime, over most of his lower body (including the lower half of his jacket).

Good looking figure Joe, the camo is very well done . Would have to agree with some of the comments about the trousers, but I think the white is ok just needs a bit more weathering.

David

Hey guys,

Thanks for all the comments. I would have to say that I agree with you all! It never looks like this until you have many other sets of eyes helping you see what you can't see with your own pair. I really would like to do more of these and you all have been a Great help in making me see what really should be done to improve this one and to make sure I do it on the next ones.

Joe

Joe,
Figure looks great. The camo is superb, the white is also very good. Maybe, I will add a little more dirt on trousers.

GOOD Figure mate, have to agree somewhat with the comments about dirt, but personally stick to little is more. I love these Alpine's I have ordered and look forward to starting a long line.

Thanks for posting.

Hey buddy you seem to have recieved quite a good beating  but as you said another pair of eyes makes you see what your eyes get accustomed/comfortable to and hence deny you to see beyond them, however..........

"Our" judging depends on the quality of the images, so you should be in a better position to see, as you have the piece in your hands........from the images, my only suggestion is to add some more weathering to the shoes, up to the knees at least........white looks OK, IMHO :)

Ray ;)

Great work sofar Joe! I agree with the others the a bit more weathering would look better.

Regards,
Marcel.
