Hello great guys and gals! :)

Please can you review the books "An Illustrated Encyclopedia of the Uniforms of ... " regarding their potential as reference guides in painting scale figures?

Here are some samples of these series:

So reasonably priced and so highly praised in other fields of interest, would like to hear your oppinions too! :)

Thanks!
And have an excellent Sunday everybody! (y)

I have the last two in the pictures plus the AmericanWar of Independence Volume-I have never seen the Roman Book. They are beautifully Illustrated books if a little general in nature. I think the published price is £19.99 and for that they are good value. Look on Abe or Amazon and you should be able to pick them up at a good discount.

To echo what Keith says, beautifully illustrated - good as a general reference/overview. I only have the 19th century one, but it is very useful to plug the gaps in some of the more offbeat subjects.

I have the Napoleonic book and find it a decent "general" reference for uniforms and arms of that particular period. That period has such a HUGE range of uniforms, one book covering all nations involved and the whole timeframe can only touch lightly on the highlights.
That being said, it is useful in giving one a general direction to deepen the research on a particular uniform. For someone new to Napoleonics, I think it is a great starter book to introduce them to what Napoleonic uniforms are about.

IMHO

I have the "Uniforms of the 19th Century" and the "Uniforms of WWI" and I very pleased of them.
Beautifully illustrated both of them and of great valour for modellers.
