Seil Miniatures is now offering their figures to collectors painted by their team of in-house painters. Many collectors also view the planet on a regular basis and I wanted to do a review of the painted figures and how they are packaged.

The figures can be ordered 2 ways. With a wooden base and brass etched plaque attached to the front or can be ordered with just the metal base and figure.

The figures are well packed and labeled and will come in an oversized box to allow for alot of packaging around the figure to protect the figure / base.

Upon opening the package you will find layer after layer of bubble wrap all around the next box which contains the figure.

Once again we find the heavy black box Seil is noted for in the kits and is well protected on all sides to protect against damage. Upon opening the black box we find again, another layer of protection for the figure and a foam pad is there to protect the figure.

If you have ordered the figure without the base the box is specially fitted to accomadate either type of figure.

Below are some close-ups of the painted figure Seil sent me and was on display at Atlanta.

I found the figure to be of extreme quality of painting and would enhance anyone's collection. For further information visit Seil's website on what figures are being offered in a painted version for collectors.

Had a look at their site, interesting. Aside from their painting being very good, I also believe their sculpting is of good quality, and they do have some interesting "stereotypical" subjects that should appeal to everybody - a viking, a highlander, an ancient greek, landsknechts, knights, etc.
... pity they're only 54mm ... imagine a viking or an ancient greek like that in 120mm !! woooaaahh !! :)

Guy,

Thanks for the review. I've been wondering for a while now how they shipped the collectors pieces.

Was the grass or groundwork at all crushed or anything by the packaging?

The joy of the hobby for me is the painting, but then again I think we all know of a few people who are willing to pay us to paint a figure or two for them. I wonder how people who rely on commissions more would feel about this?

It's a really good ideas for some collectors who likes figure
but are not able to paint them.
It was a great problem send figures just paited..

But this packaging looks really efficacius.

ciao Stefano

looks very nice but then why to bother with the hobby?????

Some people paint.........some people can't paint and collect..........and some of us do both.

I have many figures in my collection painted by other painters.

My wife says I have 3 hobbies, not just one:

1. Paint figures
2. Collect painted figures
3. Collect kits of figures
