I can't go a whole day without painting something.I'd have thought that folk who have retired, like myself, would have more time to paint.I have some good days and some bad,but i usually have a 75mm figure and a bust on the go at the same time.Stops me getting bored
I've also got figures and busts which are just about finished, but if i'm not totally happy with the results, they don't even make it onto a base.
I'm not at all happy with being of a certain age,but it's just a mental state of mind. How many of you guys are even going to reach my age?Derek won't, once i get a hold of him:D

Painters block, hits us all at sometime, and can come an go quite frequently.
I have to admit I've been struggling, to find time to do some painting lately, and when I did I just couldn't find my rhythm.:(
sometimes its just best to have a break for a while, and then return to it.
You could always build a tank or a wingy thing just to keep you occupied, but the main thing is, that your painting mojo will return, and they'll be no stopping you.:)

I get painter's block every year just after the one big local model show we have here in Perth. For several weeks after WASMEx I struggle to even enter my hobby room, let alone look at a kit I purchased or pick up a brush.

It's usually my wife who tells me to disappear into my hobby room so she can get her hands on the remote control that gets me back in there.

I'll spend a couple of hours rearranging things, tidying up, pulling out kits to look at and then put them away wondering why I bought them.

Generally wasting time and waiting for that lightening bolt of inspiration. It never comes like that.

Eventually I grab a kit that I don't really care too much about and start work on it, and gradually I start to feel the juices start to flow.

Every year for the past 20 years I've been like this. I can guarantee you that the first figure I paint after my break is usually ****, but once the mojo returns I'm back in business.

It can be a turn off to do a **** figure though - I'm sure even the best of us do though.
Only the cream ever makes it to the display cabinet.
It's just when that crap figure becomes 2, then 3.. it can be a worry.

I've just started painting something, an elven archer in a tree, so I hope my painters block is over, but it usually starts with guilt that I should be doing something else (and the realisation that if I want to paint I have to clear my desk down :(:(:().
Sympathetically, Gary.
BTW, is it true that Brian got his paint recipes direct from Rembrandt ?

Hi Steve,

I totally relate to that feeling! Sometimes it happens to me as well.
Sometimes I just need to start someting new.
Right now I'm painting a figure that I had almost finished and in a hiatus for a long time, because I didn't like the results.
So, I started from the beggining and in a very short time I got where I stopped and I'm much more happy with it now.
Other times, I just need a vacation time from the brushes.

Regards
Pedro
