This is my 5st try. The base is scratchbuilt.

Hi George,

There is no question about it, this is a highly accomplished piece. You are also a far superior painter than myself. But to go from amazing to perfect, may I suggest that on the right inner thigh, bright highlights could vary slightly, just so the layers look more rich?

Congrats!

Very nice...I think on a personal view the nameplate could do with being a little less obvious as it takes my eye away from the beautifully painted figure....just me...good piece non the less...(y):

very very good job onto the figure.
But the grey on the stone needs more finishing to see older...
And the sheet needs a bath into coffee and crumple.
But thats only a small sugesstion.
I like that figure very well.

Hello George, A superb start with figure painting, many people won't reach the standard you have already achieved so well done, you have a good eye for colour and an imaginative streak when it comes to basework............keep up the good work and take on board some of the comments from fellow Planeteers if you think it will improve what you have already produced...........at the end of the day only you know what you are trying to achieve and sometimes pictures can be deceptive.

The painting is very good however....

...Pancho Villa did not dress like this from the many pictures I have seen. Also he was a lot heavier and not so buff looking. He typically wore a three piece suit with bandoleers or a military style uniform. He also preferred rifles to pistols. He wasn't a gun fighter per se but thought of himself as a General in the revolutionary army along with Zapata.

Agree with that, figure looks great, try to focus on fitment to your base as it should harmonize with the ground work, the base IMHO looks too small. Weathering on the town wall would set the whole off nicely.;)

Hi George,
very beautiful scenery but much larger than the wooden base and why?
Bravo!!

Alexandros

Great painting George, it seems that you get the hang of it. Keep your brushes wet!!

I see that the greystone needed some work to see older as Stephan and you said, and of course you're right...

Could you be more specific? What should i do to have better fitment;

the base IMHO looks too small.
The IMHO base is the wooden base; If yes, (Alexandros said it too) the answer is that i made some wooden bases with the same dimensions before the figure groundworks. I liked the look of Tutmosis III (again bigger groundwork than the wooden base) and also here I needed more space than the wooden base so I did it again.
Generally is this looks wrong;

Thank you (y)

Just sizing of the base so that it fits in with the overall size of the presentation, eg : ground work overlaps the base crown - but perhaps that was your decision WRT the bases you already had made up.:)
