The list has been updated with the additional names to-date.
I've also had a look for paintings by the last four in Otawerks post, some of which you might recognise:-
Cheers,
Andrew
Thanks Andrew, I didn't want to do an upload overload, also unfortunately Some of the the most impressive paintings of these artists are hard to find on the net..
In the case of Boutigny there's a great painting of the Siege of Paris that I have seen in the "Musée de l'Armée" in Paris, but no where to be found digitally
The other thing is this School of Painting (Les peintres Pompiers) has been poo-pooed by the establishment in the XXth century in favor of the Impressionists.
In Paris you get Impressionist painter expositions every year, Monet, Manet, Van Gogh etc.. and once every 20 or 30 years maybe you'll get an exposition on an artist like Edouard Detaille
So there aren't so many new publications, a good source of references are Auction houses websites like Sotheby's or repro sales sites like "fr(dot)muzeo(dot)com", both of those have good Definition pics.
Also old issues of "Tradition Magazine" and "La Gazette des Uniformes"
Another Walker, James Alexandre - Halte de dragons (you can see this painting in the Musée de l'Armée in the Napoleon III section)
Cheers Fred
