Just finished off my latest bust. This time a bit of an oldie, a 1994 piece by Poste Militaire. This time I've used oils for the flesh over a base of Jo Sonja acrylics with the rest of the bust painted in Vallejo and Jo Sonja.

Thanks for looking.

Excellent paintwork.
It's always good to see a PM figure passing by. They are a example of how to cast a good figure.

You're right Marc the casting is top drawer, when I started painting the beads I forgot for a moment that they are are all molded on! the casting is that clean. The feathers too are wonderfully fine and couldn't be bettered in resin.

That is a lovely bit of painting Alex! good choice of a mixed meduim also, what are the Jo Sonja paints like?
the busts Sculpted by Julian lamb where some of the best ,I've always had great love for anything Native American and this is one of my Favourites

Thank you Gerry, to answer your question about the Jo Sonjas. I love them, they are super flat, when thinned with water you can filter them really well without any tide marks, the colour range is pretty similar to oils and I can create very accurate colour matches in both mediums. This is the first time I've overpainted them in oils and I'm quite pleased with the result, they absorb the oil pretty well, which has dried to a nice subtle sheen (although I did force dry them with a couple of halogen lamps). There are a couple of busts on my blog that have been exclusively painted in Jo Sonja (Joachim Peiper and Minamoto Yoshitsune) if you want a look. I can't recommend then enough especially if you use a wet palette, they last for weeks and weeks.

Hello Alex, Beautiful painting. The skintones are excellent, and have just the right amount of sheen to them. The jewellery and beadwork painting, make this a very stunning piece. Congrats, and Regards, SG:happy:

Hi Alex neat to see your version of this classic. I too have it sitting in my display cabinet in readiness for the time I have courage enough to paint it. You've inspired me to consider bringing it forward :)

Thanks mate

Mike

Hi Alex, this piece may be old but it's still a stunning one,as some people have already mentioned the quality of PM pieces is great and you have really done this piece proud with your painting, lovely flesh tones and I really like the way the feathers have been painted,a stunning job mate and thanks for posting :)
