Your painting of the horse is just spectacular. If I could just paint horse
flesh. . . or any kind of flesh, half that good. Yes, experience helps and we
do learn by doing. But some of you have more talent. And that is what
makes this site so much fun. We're all at different levels but we enjoy the
same past time (ah. . . I don't know if that is one or two words? Pasttime? I
don't think so.)

Anyway, it is beautiful, and i'll follow your work with much interest.

A big thanks to all of youf or the warm and encouraging commenting on this post.
Really appreciate it guys.
Gilberto, Wendy the basic color used for the horse was a mix of
Sepia (Turner Acrylics)
Raw Sienna (Turner Acrylics)
Raw Sienna (Josjona's Acrylics)
Burnt Sienna (Josjona's Acrylics)
Burnt Umber (Josjona's Acrylics)
Highlighting was made adding Raw Sienna + Burnt Sienna and later Napples Yellow to the mix.
Shadows with Burnt Umber.
Marc unfortunately my skills with the airbrush are limited to basecoating only so i had to rely on brush for this one. It was a matter of patience and taking advantage of acrylics' opacity and transparency.
Will post some progress as soon as i have some.
Best Regards.

I do remember you wrote that you donot like painting horses...after see this I ask myself ''imagine if he does like'' Great job Dimitrios...

Wow, just wow.

Almost feel too ashamed to post my efforts with this figure so far! My first Mounted figure as well, all I can hope is that one day I can be a fraction as good as yourself!

I shall definitely be following this one. The only small point I would raise, is something I came across whilst researching for mine, not sure how true it would be, but being a king he would ride only the best bred horses, and purebred's rarely if ever have the white socks on their legs? Sorry, not sure if that would apply to their breeding habits hundreds of years ago but thought it might be of interest.

Thank you guys for your comments.
Daniel it s always good to study the subject you re gonna work on and i really dont know where the truth is. I justed imagined the King on a beautiful and powerful horse so my reference was a photo of an arabian stallion which had white socks. Was it pure blooded or not? I really can't tell!
PS. The great thing about this hobby is that it is not really a competition, so please show us your work. Good to see different approaches on a subject.

Anyways some progress these days. Horse is completed (maybe i ll tone down the mane a bit) and i started working the rest, but clearely you can see wherethis is going.
Cheers.
