Except the eyepatch he has all the attributes of a typical pirate. I am amazed how you get these nice results with another medium likewise.
The guy resembles from some angles a likeness to a younger Sean Connery. "Captain Bond - James Bond"???:D
Cheers, Martin

Martin, thanks a lot for your comments, and yes I wanted to have typical attributes of pirate.
This is my first try on these attributes digitally so I've learned a lot from creating parts such as a blunderbuss, sword, pipe, jacket, buckles, etc.
Sean Connery is one of my favourite actors so it affected me maybe. :)

Ian, thanks a lot for your compliments, I keep trying' to get better.

Then what about a Martini in his right hand??:D
Really looks great - will you release him as a commercial piece?
Cheers, Martin

I think this is fantastic.

My own personal opinion (for what it's worth) is that it looks great as-is and doesn't need an eye patch - far too hackneyed and clichéed a feature that in reality - most probably - very few pirates actually had. The same goes for the parrot, although I assume that the parrot would come as a separate piece that could simply be left off if you don't want to use it, so no problem.

My only slight criticism is that the torso looks like it might be a bit long, although it's hard to tell from these pics.

I have always thought about doing a pirate. This could be the one.(y) .. Although if I may? Some work on the definition of the parrot is required. Like the under cut of the wings to the body and beak. and possibly a higher definition of the feathers.

As an example .. Nuts Planet', have done the best bird on shoulder element that I have seen. (IMHO). And has yet to be rivalled. :)

My point being, is that a lot of these birds lack reality and or thought. Perhaps not this time.

I will follow this as it does look very promising.

Mark.

Thanks a lot for your comments, guys!

And thanks a lot for comments & critiques on parrot.

I know 'parrot on shoulder' is a bit lack of reality, but I just want to add an icon and something 'colourful item' which look good as a figure.

As Mark pointed out, yes Mark's opinion is right it lacks definition and details 'cause it is not finished. I just sketched it roughly.

Thanks mandreas, without your help I could not print out my first 3d printed item.

After I got my first 3d prints, it makes me think about what is good deformation for scale model.... I think my works needed more exaggeration for scale.
I cannot figure it out until I actually have 3d prints in my hand, so it was valuable try.

Yes Kaz ,
as you assume, in fact, the experience will teach you that you need to "emphasize" the plastic reliefs on modeling, as in function of 3d print, otherwise the results may appear flat ...

After viewing "Pirates of the Caribbean" again...It hit me, he's missing a lot of jewelry especially on the fingers, I would view Johnny Depp lol and yes I see Sean Connery...
