I noted a # of recasts of Andrea and Pegaso figures last week on E-bay.I dropped a line to both the seller and buyer that the transaction encourages this kind of activity.I kept the E-mail low key.The buyer claimed naivete. The seller went on to tell me in no uncertain terms that these figures weren't recasts or counterfeits as he had bought them direct from the manufacturer.... in whichever of the Russian Republics.Either it's rationalization or naivete, but I think you have to deal with a very odd mind set.

I asked the seller where he got the figures and this is his reply:

Hi there,
I made them myself. I've been casting molds for years and I wanted to build both the Union and Confederate figures without having to buy another kit.
Thanks,
Steven Meador

Casting for yourself is one thing, it's when you start selling these things that you become a creative property thief.

What I hate the most about that, is, that ebay isn´t really interested in hearing from people whats going on here!

Do you sell a fake gucci bag or louis vitton whatsoever, you get real stress. But stealing the copyright of our figures, recasting and selling them, this seems to be ok? Or what??

This is, in my eyes, unbelievable!

at the bottom of the page, click 'Report This Item';
-this brings up a new page with 3 windows: in the first, select 'Counterfeits and copyright violations: in the second window, select 'Potential trademark infringement'; and in the third, select 'Other replica or counterfeit items'.
-press 'Continue'
-in the new window, press 'Email Us'
-yet another window opens; press 'Send'

Generally ebay will not hear you if you are not the (copy)right owner. There is the VeRO program (http://pages.ebay.co.uk/vero/index.html) that rights owners could use to (almost) immediately suthdown recasters and so on guys.

I notice that whomever was bidding on the pirated figures has withdrawn his bids.

But somebody else put a bid in.
What amazes me is the guy admits on ebay that it's a recast!!!!

Since there's been no response from the seller, I made a formal complaint to ebay. Alas, their automated forms have no room to indicate that I'm the trademark holder....
