I've started work on the excellent pilot figure that comes with the Love Love Garden PKA Kangaroo from the Maschinen Krieger universe (https://lovelovegarden.stores.jp/items/5ed223f172b91159d164d953)

I got a fair way into painting the face before I spotted this 'lump' - removing it wreaked the face and so I started over.

Basic acrylic sketch done.

I'm aiming for a bit of a WWII meets sci-fi aesthetic to try to achieve that Maschinen Krieger look.

I'm also hoping not to lose any of the parts of the figure during this one!

Hi Mart

Nice to see the next figure , good recovery on the face as well and a good start on the basecoating

The project story sounds interesting be good to see what you do

Looking forward to seeing more

Happy benchtime

This where I’m up to with the figure after working on the highlights a shadows a bit further.

He’s getting there. A bit more work on the shadows and he boots need *something* - I’m going to start by painting in the laces and going from there.

The head / helmet was pretty much done.

But after checking in with a friend I think the colour was a bit much, so re-painted the helmet with lacquers and now I’m here.

I think it better fits the aesthetic but happy for feedback.

Cheers m.

He looks good, the rescue job on his face is done really well, would not notice if it wasn't pointed out.
I am not sure about the visor though, I assume you are aiming at a transparent effect by showing the helmet colour through it, that is probably a realistic look but difficult to achieve in 3D. For the model a gloss black or reflective orange/yellow may be better?

Not easy painting a face when so little of it is visible, but you've made a good job of it.

Thanks Rob

If only I were so talented. In the Maschinen Krieger universe a lot of the helmets - like this one - are ‘indirect vision devices’, so the visors are often painted up as a solid.

- thanks Malc, appreciate the feedback.

If I didn’t have bad luck, I’d have no luck at all.

The pilot fell-over in the crockpot - by the time I realised the paint had blistered. I can’t see an easy way to fix so will strip and repaint.

At least I’m getting some painting practice in….

Hi Mart

Blooming heck that's not good but at least your getting practice in which is always good

You could strip it right back again

Stripped and repainted.

He’s now about 90% done I think. I need to paint the hands in with oils and do *something* about the flight-suit. I like the contrast but it is a touch too ‘toy-like’.

Thoughts?

Hi Mart

Looks good as for the suit , perhaps a bit more blending

I would add texture to the straps as well

Try Oils and see how it goes for the hands ......

Have you just basecoated the boots ? ....definately highlight the laces

Well done on the repaint

Look forward to seeing more updates

Have FUN @ the bench

I think I’m going to call this chap done. It’s been fun, learned lots but I’m ready to move on.

Hoping to have his vehicle sorted very soon.

As a scaling aide for a vehicle (which is all crew really are in vehicle modelling circles) he is fine, colour tones and shades are good and the details all work, showing the visor as a separate piece to the helmet was a good idea. You seem to have missed his neck though.

Nice work, the figures for these kits are nice but soft on detail but you've done a good job overcoming that he's a nice figure. It's always a treat when someone does good figure work with vehicle kits, it just lifts the whole project.

Cheers Simon
