That face doesn't look from Manchester to me:troll:
But apart from that the painted piece should become a beauty with that powerful red coat and all the wood and leather textures. Lots of fun for the painter, for sure!

I am interested to know if you think about casting while you are sculpting, and if so do you make specific compromises to allow simpler casting. If you don't do you hand off your finished pieces to a caster who then cuts them up as necessary?

Excellent, I think the previous comments say it all. A fantastic piece and the result of 2 great blokes vision. A winner for sure :)

Hi Carl, gotta disagree about ECW period being an untouched period. 50 years ago it was a very well touched period indeed!!! Both in 54mm and 30mm. Notwithstanding, it's a lovely bust and particularly like the musket(y)(y)(y).
Best wishes, Gary.

Yes John, casting is always in my mind when I'm sculpting a piece. When the piece is complete its ready for the mould. So my client is able to produce on it straight away. Although its classed as sculpting, its actually pattern making.

You're always aware of thickness, undercuts, break points, where you can hide the joints etc. Making sure the arms for example are positioned correctly. Its just part of the job.

Cheers mate!
I think you're right buddy, I have a vague memory of some 54mm ECW stuff years ago.
Didn't Cliff Sanderson do some?

Carl

Cheers Johan, glad you like him.
I understand your comments regarding photos.
But unfortunately because the recasters are lifting photographs from anywhere and just using them to hawk their dodgy practices. All manufacturers have to do what they can to stop it.
But if you want to use the image, just contact Stu, I'm sure he will allow you to use it.

Makes sense to me, Carl. But hey, I'm a sensitive person and chocked rather easily.... LOL

We're not at the end of January and Carl is wetting our appetites already.
Another bust that oozes character as well as be nicely animated.
Looks like I'll be starting my Euro shopping list early.

I agree Karl!
It is a great subject, one thats overlooked for the most part. Hopefully this piece might ignite the interest a little. Because there is loads character, interesting equipment, different textures to play with. You can really get your teeth into it.

But theres hundreds of subjects that never really touched upon. But I guess we're all creatures of habit, and gravitate to our default sttings and favoured subjects.
