Again I am unsure how common these were or why they made them with two or three compartments.

Not sure but given the state of Germany towards the end of the war possibly the two compartment ones were an economy measure ? I have no real knowledge of WWII German equipment just offering it out there

Hello Carl, Thanks for the photos and link. I was unaware of the KAR 98 pouches in this arrangement. I'll have to do some research to find out why? Interesting, thanks. Regards, SG:)(y)

Grüß Di' Carl,

Excellent looking bust and fantastic face! Nice work on the Windjacke and the Bergmütze. It's always good to see a new Gebirgsjäger on the market.

Unfortunately, as others have noted, some of the equipment details are lacking. The standard issue German Army KAR 98 ammo pouch has 3 compartments. The two compartment pouch in the photo you posted is probably police issue. It also looks like the top flap of the Gebirgsjäger rucksack is too small and does not have the three closure straps. Not to mention that the rope with the carabiners and pitons would easily slip out in the configuration that is currently on the figure. I like the pose on the 1/6th scale action figure that you modeled your figure after.

Here are some original items from my collection for reference:

Thank you Patrick for taking the time to post images of your fantastic collection, and sharing your knowledge!

The alterations are only small ones, so I will make the amendments today, before he goes off to be cast!
Thank you again!

Carl

Carl,

As if your sculpting wasn't already world class, you've demonstrated once again why you're so well regarded by your peers. Not only were you willing to acknowledge a couple of small but important mistakes in your sculpt, you were willing to correct them before the bust went for casting. Some people wouldn't have bothered, but it speaks volumes for your care and attention to detail that you'd do this. Thanks for sharing your pics Patrick.

Hi Carl, plenty do do at moment but this is on list for Euro. Don't normally do WWII stuff of any kind but I will do this.
Spend a fair bit of time in Southern Bavaria mainly in Garmisch Partenkirchen where the Gebirgsmusikkorps are based and the connection with the Alpine troops remain strong.
Cheers
Derek

Cheers Tony!

I'm more surprised there wasn't more alterations needed, given I know almost nothing about WWII Germans! I just tried to follow the images as close as possible!
The changes were only small ones, so it wasn't too much effort to make them before I booked him a flight...:)

Thanks again Buddy!

Carl
