R/140 "Le chiene Moustache à la défense de l'aigle du 40e régiment, Austerlitz 1805"
This time we explain a story that almost sems unbelievable; Moustache, a Barbet dog who since he as a puppy lived with the French 40th infantry regiment for more than 10 years, and who was the protagonist of several heroic actsduring the campaigns of the Grande Armée. This scene, located in the battle of Austerlitz, represents the moment in which he single-handledly defended the regiment's dying porte-aigle, thus preventing russian troops from storming the Eagle of the regiment. This action earned him a decoration awarded by the General Lannes himself! (More details about his life are in the documentation attached to the kit)

75mm. resin cast
We hope that you like it!!

Ps. In wikipedia the text explains that in Austerlitz he confronted the Austrians, but it is a mistake since the 40th Reg. was integrated into the 5th corps of Lannes' Army (left wing on the French side), and they fought only against the troops of russian troops of General Bragation.

Did this really occur? I have not read about it before.

Seems to me still more fiction than fact looking at my many dogs and their behaviour but check the links provided. IMHO if Napoleon would have had an airforce moustache would have joined them as well for a while before he ended his career.
Btw. - my avatar is "Patch" whom I picked up in 2003 in Kosovo - he fought each and everybody down there and back here in Germany and - believe it or not - was awarded my UN-medal;):D.
Cheers, Martin

The Italians have a saying for this kind of stories:

"Se non è vero, è ben trovato."

In English: If it's not true, it's [at least] well invented.

Cheers,
Peter
