Sculpted and painted by nick, and of a US Marine drum major. I gotta admit, I like how Nick makes pieces that are just that little bit off the main track, not so far though as to be too far off!

Congrats Nick

cheers

Thanks Jamie, I guess I have always marched to the beat of a differant drumer. Must have been why the Sargent always yelled at me to get in step!! LOL!!

Regimental S-4 - New release for July

Nick -

This is my first post since joining P/F several months ago. The subject matter of your USMC Drum Major really grabbed my attention. It is done well, but I can't figure out what time period you are depicting. I spent thirty (30) years in the Marine Corps Reserves (1970-2001) retiring as a Master Gunnery Sergeant and I must admit that I've never seen this uniform. In particular, the style of "Bearskin". I would like to know what reference you used for this piece of gear. It appears to be of the type worn by a Highland Regt. I have done years of research on US Marine Corps uniforms and insignia and have a fairly large collection of cloth and metal insignia, both U.S. and foreign. I've been to the "Evening Parade" at Marine Barracks, 8th & I, on four separate occasions between '72 and '85, so am very familiar with the uniform and accutraments of the Drum Major. Please advise as to what period this bust figure represents.

Hi Ron, The figure represents the Drum Major of "The Leatherneck Pipes and Drums". They are all former Marines and perform at many Marine functions and Parades. You can check them out on line by searching for Leatherneck Pipes and Drums. Check out my website at www.regimentals4.com as I have other Marines there that may interest you. You may also email me through the website. Thank you for your interest in the figure. Nick

Hey there, MasterGunns

Whoa, Gunney:

Hey mate, it is good, you finally got around to posting a comment here with
the rest of the Planeteers. Hopefully, you'll have time to post comments more
often in the future; and I say that even though my comments production has
diminished a great deal do to health consideration, exercise requirements,
spending time at the gym, that takes so much of my free time. But I do try
and check what is going on here.

Welcome, to the fold, my friend. To those of you not familiar with where
Gunney is located, as he stated Lee's Summit, Missouri in the US of A.
Lee's Summit is one of the larger incorporated communities (that is, larger in
geographical area, but a large population as well) on the Missouri side of the
state line between Kansas and Missouri in the southeast quadrant of Greater
Kansas City. Gunney and I have been very good friends since the mid 1960s.

A real gentleman, a walking encyclopedia on the US Marine Corps, and a
class act.

Welcome aboard, my friend,
