Hi all. First vBench post here at PF, though I've been watching this site for quite some time.

Well, I'm working on a vignette ("Requiem") and after getting my inspiration back I've started to paint the figures. I'm also having a vBench over at Planet Armor about this vignette (no update for six months though), but here I will just concentrate on the figures involved.

To make the story short, this vignette is about a German crew of a halftrack (251/22), who is withdrawing from their latest fight, in which they lost one of their members. The scene takes place in the Korsun pocket, and the unit belongs to the 12th Pz. Div.

To get the figures the way I wanted I had to scratchbuild and/or convert them. I'll start to show the figures in their unpainted stage. I don't have any new pictures of them, so as you see them they are about 90% done.

This is their fallen comrade. Hastily placed on the hood, just to get his body back for a decent funeral. His right hand was not done when the picture was taken.

Here's the CO. He was hit by shrapnel in his right arm. The field cap has been changed since the picture was taken. Found a better one from Warrior.

Third one is the driver. Not much will be visible of him so I just sculped the essential parts.

The fourth figure wasn't done when the pictures were taken, so he'll probably show up later.

That's it. As soon as one of them is painted I'll update this thread with some new pictures.

I also include a picture of three other figures that I've done. Most of them is major conversions (not the one in the center. Almost OOB), but also some scratchbuilt parts (like the over coat etc.).

This picture shows a Japanese suicide soldier that, except from his head and some gear, was scratchbuilt.

As always are any kind of comments, good or "bad", much welcome.

Hello Mattias ,

First, Welcome and second, wow I really like your work! Please feel free to post more of it. I look forward to seeing the rest of this one. What do you paint in, oils or acrylics?

Joe

Welcome to Planet Figure Mattias,

Beautiful work mate. Your vignettes are superbly constructed and painted.

I look forward to seeing this new vignette completed.

Thanks for sharing these pics with us.

Hi Mattias,

hi Mattias,
welcome here, like other members, i'm very interresting by your work ...
Don't hesitate to give us more pictures of your work !

Seb.

Thank's guys. I'm glad that you like my work and I hope it will continue that way.

I recently (with "Murderous Mist") started to paint in acrylics, Vallejo, and I got hooked. Find it so much easier than oils, while it also speeds up the progress. Don't have much time for this wonderfull hobby, but I try the best I can. For every new vignette I start I feel like a newbie.

I think I started to get a hang of it with "Pole Position". It was my first serious attempt at scratchbuilding, and I was really pleased with the result. I think that this vignette is the best one that I've done, regarding composition.
Don't have any better pictures of it than this, if you don't have a copy of "Nordic Edge vol.1" of course.

After the vignette above I did "Murderous Mist". As written above this was my first attempt with acrylics. Turned out much better than I expected. I tried to portay a kind of "Band of Brothers"-shine over it. Keeping the colour scale down and blending it all together.

Not all of the best pictures (dark background) are uploaded, so these will do for now.

I hope that I will be able to finish "Requiem" within a month or two. Time will tell.

Excellent stuff.

Really impressive.

Yep Acrylics are a lot of fun, particularly if demands on time restrict hobby time!:D

Like the pole position (mainly because it is so dynamic, and shows part of WW2 that is almost never done, and has a huge sense of anticipation!!)

really like the caked on effect of the soil on the figures.

Cheers and Welcome

Nordic Edge

Hi Mattias,

great pics again! I remember reading a review of "Nordic Edge vol.1" in a local magazine, the few small photos looked very interesting and it was highly recommended, will try to look up a copy of it

Thanks!

Thank's again guys.

Well I've been doing some painting on one of the figures, so I'm in desperate need of your opinons. Just want to know if I'm on the right track.
The pictures don't really do him justice, as I'm not an expert on the camera and don't have any proper lightning.

Here we go.
