Although a controversial subject the sculpting and casting of this figure stand on their own. Our member, Sergey Zlobov has slowly earned a reputation for his excellence in sculpting some beautiful figures of all different subjects.

The above figure is of a Roman Cavalryman in the 3rd century AD and is cast in 10 parts of white metal. The kit comes in Seil's traditional sturdy black box with all the parts sandwiched between layers of foam.

Above we see the attention to detail Sergey has given us in the sculpting of the head and helmet.

Above are the 4 views of the lower leg section with good sized mounting lugs at the bottom of the feet for securing into the metal base.

Above we see the front and back of the chest portion of the torso. This section fits snuggly down upon the leg section.

Above we have the front and back of the arms.

Above is the front and back of the sword and scabbard showing the right hand holding the grip of the sword.

Above is the casted crest that fits on top of the helmet.

Above is the white metal cast base provided with the kit.

A strip of foil above is also provided for the belts.

Seil now also includes with all their kits an etched brass plaque and screws for attaching to a wooden base.

Besides the box cover Seil also includes a color guide for the painter.

Conclusion:
An excellent 75mm figure with minimal casting seams to remove and all dry-fitting done was excellent. High Recommended.

Very good figure indeed. My only objection and that's regarding painting.. is the shield. It has a symbol used from Christians. I didn't know it was used from Romans too. Someone has some more info on this?

The 'Chi-Rho' symbol (the first two letters of the Greek word 'Christos' = Christ, which looks like a superimposed 'X' and 'P' to us using the 'Latin' alphabet) was used from the middle of the 3rd century AD. It's use on this figure is probably too early. The Roman Empire became 'Christian' with the emperor Constantine The Great (although it is debateable that he himself ever converted to the faith), AD 307-337. A number of Roman military units did use the symbol on their shields as we know from the late period army list, known as the Notitia Dignitatum (late 4th-early 5th century AD.
