Here is 90mm Roman Centurion by Pegaso in the process of acrylic painting . I'd like to receive the forum member's opinion before the work is done .

Critical points of view and suggestions are very welcomed!

Very nice job. So good in fact the same figure i have has now had a paint striper bath. How did you do the shield???

For me the different Metal coulor looks very good.
And I think the flesh tone is too light. they work in the sun, so you have to paint it a little bit darker in my opinion.

The shield pattern was hand painted according to the image of centurion of Legio VI Victrix in " The Roman Legions Recreated in Colour Photographs" by Daniel Peterson.

By AD 80, VI Victrix was stationed at Novaesium on the Rhine, 30 miles north of Cologne. I'm not shure about the sun in this particular case, but I'll try to use your advise in my next projects.
Thank you.

Hi Salve

Looks very well done to me! Good progress to date!

Leather work looks excellent, and I assume it's freehand work on the shield?

I guess regarding the skin colour, time of year may be relevent. Maybe he's just gone through a cold winter and hasn't caught any sun yet!

Very well done Alkadi,
I would also agree the flesh tone is light and I would of gone a little darker. The pillars I would give a brown wash to and come back and drybrush with white to give them more detail...............Love the Sheild............excellent!!!

Hey Alkadi,
Great work on the shield. The overall looks good, but you might want to give the flesh a more bronzed look,Romans spent their military careers marching from one corner of the empire to the other.
You might want to ask Guy for his flesh formula,he excells in painting tanned flesh.

Keep up the nice work.

Hi there. Your figure looks interesting with very good points about it. However there are a few points that you can make better. On my website ( www.smfigures.com ) there are 2 photos of this piece. It won me a bronze at the WE in Glasgow. Have a look at it and then we can take it from there

Interesting this

I have this figure, I picked him up cheap at Euro, there was one done there in a brown cloak, interesting figure.

Nice to see other people interpretation of it.

Hi Alkadi
Good to see another Roman making an appearance.
On the skintone I would say weathered, He's a vetran
of many campaigns in many different climates and
life has been hard.

The shield design looks terrific, but could also be weathered
though not overly so, other wise keep going and post more
pics so we can all in some way share in your project.

For inspiration I recommend reading the novel's "The Eagles Conquest"
"Under The Eagle" and "When The Eagle Hunts" all by Simon Scarrow
This Author really brings the Legions to life

I think he's looking great. The sheild is super!

As for the skintones, I don't think its too pale, but rather look 'not finished'. Im sure it looks different in person, but on my screen it looks like it has very little contrast. All you would have to do to 'bring it to life' is some well placed shadows, and it would look a lot better IMHO, and make him look little more seasoned.

Keep up the great work and shoe us your progress!

Thank you all, and especially to Stephan, Guy, Stephen and Frank!

I'll try to finish this figure using your suggestions and post higher quality photos as soon as possible.
