Hi Ernest

That figure is coming along well. You certainly took care of the helmet/face area well.

Andy

Ernesto,

La figura tiene una pinta estupenda. El trabajo de pintura es muy bueno, especialmente el casco, que me parece de excelente factura.
Permanezco atento a los siguientes avances.

Rafa

The left arm and sleeve look great Ernest. I like the way you have done the red and the skin tones are fabulous.

Some more progres of the Roman, the tunic is done and the arms in their places, any coments in this particular point will be very welcome.... ;)
Cheers

Hi Ernesto,

I like this figure a lot already. Only one thing that roubles me (it might also be me, haveing a psychticway of lookingat models)is that the red on his sleeves (which is in a direct light area) seems darker then the red above his legs (in a shadow area). It can of course also be the picture. It also seems that the red above the legs is much smoother in painting then on the sleeves. Just my 2 cents. Anyway, I would love to be abe to paint like you do.

Greetz,

Gino

Ernesto, I too noticed what Gino mentions on your trousers and sleeves. Assuming that you intended to show some dirt on the lower portion of the tunic, you instead ended up with what looks like 2 different piece of cloth. Shouldn't be too hard to fix. Add some more highlights on the sleeves, darken what is on the lower tunic, then add earth tones along the lower portion of the tunic. I'd stay away from sand colored earth tones as it looks like you used them in your red highlights, to an extent. That or lighten the tones on the shoulders and sleeves. In either case, it's still a fine looking figure so far. One which I'm looking forward to seeing completed.

Hope this helps,
Jim Patrick

HI Gino and Patrick, what I tried to do in this tunic is add a lot of dust in the lower zone, the terrain for this figure will be in the desert, I inted to give the sensation of dust and dirty aspect because the sand of the desert, maybe I'll put some more lights and dust over the shoulders and more dark and earth tones over the lower portion of the tunic...
Thanks for the comments

ER

Some more progres, This time I beginig with the lights and shdows of the left leg and adding some more dust over the tunic I think is beter now, thanks for the advice Patrick (y) maybe tomorrow I'll post some more new pictures with the two legs finish....

(y) That works. Very nice. Well, don't keep us waiting Ernest. Keep posting for all us painters who don't paint or post ( :( that describes myself!).

Keep up the great work,
Jim Patrick

Yes Ernesto, this is much better, no it's perfect. You see it's all of the same piece of cloth, yet there is a difference between highlight parts and shadow parts. And you still see he will be in a dusty enviroment. Congrats my friend.

Gino

Gino thanks for your comments, this time I post this pictures with the legs and sandails done I'll start to work on the ground work soon, I hope you like what I done so far....

Beautiful work Ernest. I love the flesh tones and the shading on the tunic I really like as well. I look forward to seeing the finished figure with the groundwork.

Beautiful painting, you did a great job on every single part. Tha face is very convicing though difficult to paint with the helmet (I painted this kit also).
I like very much the used effect on the red parts, and also the helmet.
The oinly thing that I ike less is the colour of the "crest" that in my opinion desn't match with the red colour of the tunic, but this is to say something ;)
Congratulations, I can't wait to see your work on the shield...
Bye
JP

Thanks Guy and Jean Phillipe for your comments, Jean I saw your Roman in your web page and I like it a lot, your shield will be very inspirational for my paint work, also you have a lot of beautiful works in your gallery, did you paint with oils or acrilycs?.....

cheers

ER

I used to paint with oils (this is the case for the roman) and now I use both oils and acrylics (I kept oils for the skin parts...)
I'm not sure my design on the shield is accurate, it probably looks more like an imperial roman design rather than like a republican one...
I'm glad you like it though.
Keep up sharing the pictures
Bye
Jean-Philippe

Hello evryone, at last I finish de Roman I post some pictures, I inclined some the shield because the shield cover about the 70% of this figure and also to break a litle bit the symmetry, I ambient this figure over some desert terrain, I enjoy to paint this figure because de sculpt is amazing speciality the legs and arms, is a shame that the shield cover big part of the body but is a figure that I recomend.....
Hope you like it

Until the next sbs

I really like the way he has turned out Ernest. Great job overall. The weathering on the sheild looks realistic. Whats next on your workbench?

Hi Ernesto,

That's one superb figure you have painted. I LOVE it!! Nice dusting of the shield and figure too. It makes the figure, shield and groundwork realy belonging together.

Thanks for sharing.

Best wishes,

Gino.
