Hi everyone, Im Antonio from Spain, I've been modelling about a year from now, mostly in children clay, I want to show you my first scale figure in Super Sculpey firm, I have to say that I like this material alot, so this is the stage of this bust, I started this one in mid summer and now Im ready to start with the details like insignias, glasses, clothes textures, etc...
hope you like it, saludos amigos!

Wow Antonio! This looks great!

My only suggestion would be to make the shoulds broader and the arms thicker. The portion below the head seems a slightly smaller scale.....but it just be the photo.

Cheers
Basil

Hi Antonio,

You seem to have captured the key facial features of Rommel and created quite a striking likeness. The area around the eyes is particularly good. Perhaps in deference to the man's age, you could soften the jawline.

The likeness is very very good! I do agree that the shoulders should be widened a bit which will also widen the chest. The pockets could sit a little more on the front of the figure and not so far back under the arms...of course this could all be an optical illusion from camera angles, but it might be worth a look. I am looking forward to seeing the finished piece!

I agree 100% about SS Firm!

hi guys!
thanks for the coments, you are right about the shoulders, they need to be wider, I already fix that, also they looked smaller of the camera distorsion, I also reduce the hat dimension, I hope to post new pics soon so you can judge!
thanks in advantage mates!
Antonio

Antonio,

I watched your Rommelbuste a lot of times before giving specific reaction :)

suppose I did, it would have sounded like; 'marvellous, perfect etc'

Well, it still does and I am curious about your own expectation regarding this bust.
This moment it looks very expressive, in a way a bit rude.
The likeness is superb and wellthought. Rommel always seem to look like he understands the steps of fate...congrats too...you succeeded.

about expectation...there is nothing wrong with a impressionistic view of Herr Rommel, I even like this better :)
But I hope you will refine the foils, wrinkles, take a little more care for his ears, knowing you eventually shall.

I will follow your piece of art! I am not familiar with your medium of clay, must admit I have great pleasure in working with Fimo, a clay which you can alter as long as you want.

René

thanks all for your coments, they really help to learn and improve motivation!

René, my expectations are to be able to finish it, we will see, some hard work is still to come, insignias and medals... ears have been improved although not finished, for my first bust Im having fun, I will try to show movement in my next works.
thanks again mate

John, I baked the main interior structure not visible, maybe too much and burnted (first time) the rest is still wet if I need some change, thanks for the words!

so here are some update, ears, hat and wider arms, thanks for wachting!
Antonio
btw:sorry for the crapy pics, next week I will shoot with my new cannon s95

it's hard work Antonio, I Know...and it's important to take pictures of your sculpt as many times as you can also to create a little distance and to observe.
In my opinion you pictures are very fine and sometimes poor lighted images are the best for puzzling out shape and dephts.

you also work with some liquids and brushes on this one to soften some areas?

love this progress,

René

I love what you've got going here. You have captured his likeness very well which I know is a very hard thing to do. I like sculpting in SS firm as well but lately I've been using more of thier primo clay. Keep it up this is going to be great.
Bob

thanks Bob and Dan for the kind words!
in this new update, I modifide the pose, still working on proportions so no detail for now, looks rough I know, I have base this in a concrete picture, I made wider the torso and the arms are holding on the back, I think it looks more natural than it was before, ok thanks for take a look!
