I took another deep dive into the GA and found this little fella. I got him second hand back in the mid-2000s, but never quite got around to putting him together. The sculpting is not up to current standards, but the figure is a little different to the usual Napoleonics on offer.

He needed to be assembled before painting, but the ramrod in the left hand obscured most of the front of the figure. In addition, the cast ramrod appeared to have a bit of an ‘s’ shape as it passed through the hand.

A steel rod of suitable diameter was found and the offending casting removed and hand drilled to suit. The head of the ramrod was drilled and fixed to the replacement. That gave me a bit more access and eliminated the odd shape.

Painted in enamels and oils with a touch of acrylic (Darkstar metal).

That figure definitely has the look of a converted Airfix Coldstream guardsman about it, as its starting point for the master...!(y)

I hadn't thought of that Steve, but now you've mentioned it, I'm pretty sure you're right.
Coldstream legs and 42nd Highlander torso. .... Naughty, Naughty!:(

Cheers,
Andrew

It doesn’t matter to me whether those early production figures ‘employed’ other makes into their finished products. The end result is still a very attractive and nostalgic piece from the golden days of military modelling...
