this looks like you have done some good work on this one abhijit, a couple of things that stand out are the fact his eyes look closed (but that may be the photos) also there needs more work on the shoulder, they look like they end too short across the body, make sure the arms hand under the shoulders and not on them. These are just a couple of points that may help you but you are doing very nicely.

A beautiful work - but I would omit the epaulettes. Ordinary cossacks were normal none at that napoleonic times.

And if it is to be an officer, then the gun is wrong. They had only pistols and sabres.

Here some pictures:

Yes, this seems to be coming along nicely; I assume that you plan on doing more work with the eyes. The shoulders could be built up a little, but I assume from the rather elaborate busby that this is intended to represent a guard regiment, and they did wear epaulets -- I remember that Zvezda made some figures of this regiment a few years ago. What pix are you basing your figure on?
Again, this seems really promising, and I look forward to seeing how it progresses.

Sorry Phillip, also at the cossac-guards only the officers wore epaulettes at that time!

NCO's and enlisted men wore none!

Thanks for the info and additional pix, Martin, but I don't think that we should deprive our hero of his epaulets yet. Perhaps we could have him rescue Prince Pyotr Ivanovich Bagration, who, God knows, had epaulets to spare, and reward him with a field commission?

Phillip, I have only shown how it was.

What will come of it is, of course, all alone for the sculptor:cool:
Sorry Martin, couldn't resist! I thought of you yesterday, though, when I was checking my old club, MMSI, for the date of the Chicago Show. They have some Courcelle plates on there which include several of Cossack cavalry. You might know them already, but if not, enjoy.

Hi Phillip,

I share your position still not - because my Russian sources say otherwise - as shown above.

And the wool epaulettes of the bust, which was at issue actually, even on your source does not to recognize ...

i am thankfull to all for their generous comments---- yes the eyes are yet to be completed-- i shall improvise on the shoulders to be corrected--i intended it to be a cossack of the guard trooper--the reference images posted here were excellent--actually put me in a dilemma about the epaullets---i shall make the necessary changes as suggested ...
regards to all from india!!
