Here's a fellow I've just finished. I started him back in March but then took the summer off. He's an Eduard Kasintzev figure painted in acrylics. My apologies for the weak photos but I'm curious what you think of the paint job. Let 'er rip. I can use all the help/advice I can get.

Hey Mike........he looks great. The only suggestion I could give it to try highlighting more on the upper folds of his jacket for example. This would make the flods and drapery stand out more. I like the weathered leather side pouch you have achieved......Overall.....excellent work.

hello Mike, agree with guy it does look good, I would just add a few more highlights and maybe some deeper shadows on the lower half of the figure, what do you think?

Hey Mike, that's a really nice figure and you have done a great job with the painting. I believe that from the belt and above the shadows and highlights are very good. Below that, as Guy and Roc said, it needs some more highligts and shadows especially from the sabre case side.

Guy,Roc,Xenofon,

Thanks for the input. You guys are right about the highlights. Green & red aren't easy colors for me to work with, yet. I tried mixing yellow with the green for highlight but it didn't look right. I also tried dark red as a base working up to just plain red for the highlights but that looked kinda funny also. I ended up mixing some gray into the green but I then got lazy :( & drybrushed rather than layering & feathering the highlights & I got the result you see. I'm going to leave him as is & chalk it up to experience. It's funny but some figures look great with real obvious, bright highlights & others have very subtle yet very apparent highlights. I still haven't figured out which colors call for which of these approaches, but I hope the light comes on soon. Thanks again for your advice.

Hey Mike,

One other thing you might want to try and that is to seperate the items by edging them with a dark color. An example would be where the glove meets the inside of the red cuff. If you outlined or edged it this would seperate them and give the impression of two seperate items. this is just my 2 cents. I think this is a cool figure anyway.

Joe,

Thanks for your input. Actually, I did edge the tan colored belts & around the black pouches but not between the gloves & cuffs. With that bargain basement digital camera I've got, it's kinda difficult to see. The edging looked sufficient in person but it probably wouldn't hurt to punch it up a little on the next figure. Thanks again.
