Today I painted mustache of our hero.

I had in front from the beginning to make the boy blond (which is why I've also painted him very bright eyes) and have decided at the end of "Wheat Blonde" (or "flat Blonde"), a very bright blond so.

In addition I have these colors picked out ...:

I have the "Flat Yellow" only either dimmed (with "Yellow Ocre") or lightened (with White) used. Dark Brown came for washings used to give the beard to more "depth".

Now it looks like this...:

About blonde hair color I have already written several times. In addition, the hair of our hero must be very short, as seen on the neck of that old photo ...:

Russian soldiers were shorn bald regularly at certain intervals - the one made as prevention against the ubiquitous lice, but also to prevent desertions. A shaven was easy as a runaway soldier on the road - or as escaped prisoner - to recognize, because prisoners were well shaven.

The modeller has properly researched and the bust donated very short hair.

My task now is to paint them blond. The first page is finished ...:

Well, with the painting of the other side of the neck, the skin-painting periode ends now...:

Here once again all colors, I have used up to now...:

For the eyes...:

For the hairs acrylics and for the Skin oils...:

So, since I've slept through fully and have not come to paint, there's only research today.
The Russian soldiers went in a summer uniform in the Russo-Japanese War, which came from the year 1899.
This included a white, peakless cap as our already well-known picture shows ...:

In the same uniforms, the Russians had fought in the suppression of the Chinese Boxer Rebellion 1900-1901 - our next picture shows a Russian along with Indian (= British) colonial troops ...:

The last question, whether this cap was worn at the 11th East Siberian Rifle Regiment, with which we are dealing with here, answers this Panel.Top right we find the said cap ...:

Links above the counterpart for officers can be seen: Their cap was also white, but with peak and the cockade was worn on the hat band - the soldiers wore it in this period at the cap lid.
Because the visor is so delivered at the bust as an individual part, I can now realize the unshielded cap in white.
In the German / Prussian army this peakless caps were called "Krätzchen" the Russians it was called "Furaschka" ...
Okay, let's take white...

22. Day, November 26, 2015

Today I started to paint the white cap tally. In reality, my "white" is not a white, but a very light gray, which becomes darker with increasing shade - only above the forehead, where most of the light falls, I was working with pure titanium white.

My "White" consists of the following colors ...:

After the first round I notice when viewing the photos that the catches could be a bit softer yet designed and the opacity of the white on the forehead finds my applause ...:

So there will be a second round tomorrow ...
