Who were the guys in the blue & white shirts and what did they do with the real Argentinian team?

First class job from England, first time in a long time they played as a team and stepped up as individuals. Drink may have been taken from this poster, so report will be tomorrow.

Very decent and solid performance from England, but to be honest they should have put more past what was a surprisingly poor Argentinian side.
Other results pretty much as expected although the margins in the Irish and Italian games show the huge gap that exists between nations in any world cup.

The card issues, While the England one was arguably a red by strict definition, I am at a loss as to why the Argentine one wasn't, player taken out not in possession of the ball with no attempt to avoid collision. A lot of griping from some about England not scoring a try. Yeah, when you're a man down you should really try to play fast attacking Rugby, because you will of course not be blowing out of your hoop at around the 60 minute mark and proceed to get hammered. If it had been the All Blacks people would be raving about ruthless point scoring and dogged determination, grit and winning ugly. Overall an excellent performance from England against a team ranked higher than them with some serious scalps on their belt.

Loved the Chile-Japan game, both teams playing liked they loved the game, something sadly missing from the professional game a lot of times.

On the matter of cards let me first agree that Curry fell foul of the strictest application of the law whereas the Chilean captain was treated more leniently.
Although a number of pundits are pointing to both tackles being identical in my view the Chilean benefited from a degree of mitigation insofar as the Japanese ball carriers head drove into that of the Chilean.
Given that the responsibility lies with the tackler, both were lacking intent but both were clumsy and merited yellows but no more than that.

Curry fell foul of his own over aggression. He was never going to be in a position to compete for the ball but rather than slow his approach, let the guy land and then tackle him he charged in intending to hit the guy, hard, just as he landed and before he could get his balance. His intent was to hurt the other player, to make the statement "big hit".
Fully deserved what he got.
England need to wake up to the fact that having Billy Beaumont at the WRFU is not enough to protect them from the consequences of their incessant foul play anymore.

........let the guy land and then tackle him he charged in intending to hit the guy, hard, just as he landed and before he could get his balance. His intent was to hurt the other player, to make the statement "big hit".........
.

Thats exactly what a tackler should do, if a player has 'landed' you are not required to assess whether or not he has gained his balance, so in essence such a tackle is legal. Its simply that Curry failed to control his technique, and why shouldnt he go for a big hit? The intention to hurt an opponent has largely and thankfully gone from the game.

Far more politely worded response than the one I deleted.

Well from a Scottish perspective that could have been a lot worse.
If nothing else it shows where the tidying up needs to be done.
Over the piece there was some flashes from Scotland but few and far between and clinically managed by SA.
On the down side its given a perfect illustration to Tonga and Romania on how to neutralise Scotlands wide style. Fortunately neither have the skills to do it but to come away with a top five scalp could be incentive enough.

Not seeing anybody to stop them if they continue to play like that.

Have to say, of all the matches I've seen so far, Wales vs Fiji was the first one that felt like the rugby I love. Congrats to both teams who gave it all down to the very last minute.

My nails are all but bitten through.....just waiting for some acerbic comments on here regarding Wales/Fiji. Entertaining and frustrating by turns, with my old bones wincing in their sockets witnessing the sheer power of the Fijians. I mean, they've got muscles in places I don't even have places....:woot: That old bugbear of discipline reared up yet again with Wales, and they were damned lucky with the ref's leniency. As Great-Auntie Lizzie used to say, " Well, there we are again, then ", at the end of every heated discussion with my Grandmother......

Here's a fun game for everyone to play

It's called Spot the Difference.
Tom Curry up before the beak in the morn as well.

I've decided to chill out regarding cards, the inconsistencies make Law 9:11 a subjective shambles.
Have to say the Wales v Fiji game has been by some distance the most entertaining
Can only assume that TMO Ben Whitehouse was watching replays of the Wales game and missed the Kriel incident.
To be fair Russell was lucky not to be binned for his no arms tackle.

Wait till you're man down and we'll see how chill you are :sneaky:

Come on Steve you know fine well that all Scots are naturally cool, calm and collected, taking all decisions by officials with good grace and equanimity. Did it all through my playing days, my coaching days, see no reason to change now I'm a spectator :angelic:

Fiji's come back was superb. A shame about that last and final knock on............

Mike
And the plethora of reffing inconsistencies in that game too. Yellow cards issues (or lack of them), Welsh no arms tackles on the try line, very obvious time wasting and Oh dear my head hurts play acting. Well done Wales for fielding an extra player .......dom
