Thanks guys. Great pics Franceso... Lovely landscape. I wasn't dead on but pretty close to the low mountain scrub of the first pic.
I think I'm going to start collecting regional landscape pics as well as uniform plates... Could be helpful yes?

Colin, great rendition of this figure, the blue and yellow are amazingly well painted and the whole figure\landscape looks great to me.
thanks for sharing every step of it and keep us happy with your delightful creations my friend.
cheers

Yup, what everyone else said! I think he turned out great (y)!

Good idea on collecting pics of different landscapes. I research and try to pick out the appropriate terrain too.

Thanks guys...
Ask Roger, I've done blue to death ;) As for yellow, I've found a mix for a strong primary yellow that I've gotten comfortable with and result is usually one I'm happy with... not so much when I work with white :(

As for landscape references... where I live in Southern Ontario, a less than 2 hour drive in any direction puts me in landscape that mimics most of north/central/western Europe... from rolling pasture/farmland, dense woodland (coniferous, broadleaf and mixed), river land and rocky shield regions. We are lacking mountains, deserts, ocean coast, the specific landscape of Italy, Greece, Turkey and the other areas surrounding the middle seas and the steppes eastern Europe... but 10-12 hours of driving will put me on the edge of the Canadian prairies.
Lots of live references but a collection of regional pics would definitely make a good library for doing groundwork... as accurately as possible.

Thanks again for the kind comments (y)
