Great start Colin, and certainly an unusual subject in your workbench.
This is going to be another fun thread to watch, looking forward to see the progress.
All the best

Thanks everyone for their kind words and support and especially those who dug in and came up with the uniform plates... so very much appreciated!!! That's what makes PF great!!!!

Update...

Worked on three colours... white of the linen shirt (just started for now, will finish it off when the coat is done 100%), dark blue of the coat and an even darker blue for the small clothes.
Started with the undercoats of the two blues...

Thanks guys, still some fine tuning to do on the blues... especially shadows around the equipment that isn't there yet.

I'm going with the colour scheme on the plate I posted at the top of the thread... do any of you guys with the libraries know what regiment it is depicting?

If the colors are Yellow with a white tassel it should be a "Tortona" regiment. Tortona is a town at the boundary between Piemonte and Lombardia in north of Italy. It was a roman town (Dhertona).
Cheers
Francesco

Thanks jai, of course, I already painted the damn bag yellow  It took four coats of paint to get the solid yellow too... now I have to paint it blue?:facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::blackeye::dead:

In those years the army of Savoy was modified often creating new departments or changing only the name .... I have to try. I believe that keeping the yellow hat and jacket lapels you could create a "foreign regiment" ... I think the Swiss Rietmann ... stay on hold

First I have to thank you, to solve the question I needed a book, Uniformi piemontesi 1671 1798 , book I was looking for 10 years ... Today I discovered that the small library of a small town not far from home has a copy. ..
then taking the car are gone to retrieve the book ... and now I can read it.

Good news for you and bad for Chronos Miniatures.
You can keep the yellow "almond" (the tail of the hat) because that type of headdress was in use after 1751 then you can do the regiment Tortona as recommended by Francesco.
In 1741 it was in use a smaller hat ..
my scanner does not work today .... try again later.

You can too regimental Sardinia more famous than the Tortona.

for sardinia sleeves they are in Chamois and the tail is yellow
