I got the brushes wet last night and made some progress on the face. I’m using a stippling technique to create a blotchy, translucent skin tone for an old man (wizard).

Nice fun subject you've chosen ,plenty of character in that face , the clothings going to be interesting to paint with the pattern and textures on it

Liking the flesh so far , the technique is working , particularly like the way your doing the bags under eyes together with the neat and accurate work on the eye so far

You keep painting and enjoying this

I’m making steady progress with the acrylics. Soon I’ll be switching to oils.

So, you're painting him first in acrylics - to such a standard - and then do it all again in oil? I'm not sure, if I should curl up in a corner and cry a bit or follow your progress... Nah, I'd rather follow.
