Hey Gary,

I'm friends with the Sgt. in your picture. He loves the idea of this figure. If you don't mind he sent you a message, " I think this looks like it's gonna be great, but the sash needs to be corrected - the tassles shouldn't be finished the way they are in his sculpt. They should be 9" long ones with a small knot at the end of each one, so they hang much lower than he's done, and in longer separated strands. I can send him closer pics if he'd like them.
[email protected]
Otherwise - GREAT!"

hope this helps and I'm looking forward to seeing it finished!

Rick, Unfortunately such details are hard to make out in the photos I'm using. That coupled with finding surviving relics. I also have to be mindful of the "scale" I'm working in. sometimes details are only suggested, while at other times they just disappear if the scale is really small. Consider the changes to the sash done. Thanks

Hey Gary, I agree! If you need anymore research material you can contact my friend. I left you his email in my last posted. He's excited that you are sculpting the figure. He can send you detailed photos if you need them. Good luck and good work!

Great step by step Gary. I enjoyed watching this figure develope. Lots of nice detail while the end result is still very clean and simple... a very effective piece indeed. Great job.
Best of luck getting this piece reproduced and out there. I for one would like to see this one available.

Cheers

Colin

I also hope this gets picked up by a caster and brought to market. I would buy and paint one of these, and add it to my growing collection of 75mm AWI figures. This figure can be painted in clean, parade-ground colors, or in muddy, stained campaign clothes. Google the 40th Regiment reenactment group to see excellent pics of this uniform in campaign conditions. Having seen this group in action at the Redcoats & Rebels event at Old Sturbridge Village, they REALLY get into it - wading in streams, crawling thru mud and brush, sleeping in lean-tos - and I'm looking forward to being able to recreate this unit via this figure. Great job, Gary, and thanks for sharing with us your creative process! Don
