Oh my that is truly something special. I love the use of the highlight effects crossing colour borders and the tight little scene really sets off the figure in action.

10/10.

maybe you can have a quick look at my small blog in the tutoriel section; you will find some useful info, even if the writing is in french :angelic: ... but there are many pictures, including some SBS on fleurs de lys, and other freehand oil technique.
you will have a couple of pictures of my new knight, which hopefully i will have finished for the oncoming Paris show in early april.

in return let me know if the tutoriels do really help or not, as it is very difficut to apprehend painting techniques
of course if you have any questions and if I can be of any help ...

Marco its more than good of you to take the time to reply so I will certainly look at your blog in the tutorial section and give you some feed back, your freehand is very smooth and I always end up with a textured finish when painting emblems in oils see pic.
Thanks again

yes! very nice !
well weathered look ! worned out shield after many battles ! looks very realistic !
I tend to have a rather cleaner look on my freehand heraldry. I suppose it is a different style which i will have to try out in the next future ! does look great !

If you have problems with ois in doing freehands, I would give the following suggestions :

Try to do the preliminary sketch with a pencil (very light touch)
Do the real sketch with unthinned acrylic paint.
Add shadows and highlights with oils if you want or continue with acrylics
