Hi Marco,
I do have the kit in the grey army, but not painted up..

Hi Warren,

you got it also :) come on,paint it also,im not alone then LOL ,it's a very nice one hé,
realy happy with it and there are just 30 pieces from,so a special one ;)

Mario

Thanks Malc, yes this is gonna help, don't see the color of his shoes ,but I think they are going to be brown ??? not sure about that
but gonna search the internet too find a pi from his shoes, and thank you for the picture Malc (y)

Mario

Hi, yes his shoes would most likely have been brown, British Army Officers wear a brown Oxford or Brogue style shoe when in Service Dress. The leather is pretty much the same colour as the leather Sam Browne Belt, they would be leather soled as well. Having said that Monty was some what eccentric and was a law unto himself when it came to uniform, often wearing two cap badges in his beret.

Cheers Simon

Thanks mate, I found also a colorized picture and the shoes are like black, but that could be wrong,so I gonna paint them like you say here,
gonna look how that belt looks, because I don't know everything hé ;)

What you say about Monty, yep you see on pics he wearing everything what hé like ,thanks for the advice (y)

Mario

He looks like he is wearing boots, not shoes, so I suspect they should be black. As stated above, officers shoes are dark brown.

I reckon all things being equal you can't really get this one wrong, he wore so many variations in his time that whatever you do can be said to be right so don't get too tied up over small details like this.

That's something the British Army is good for, confusing the he'll out of anybody trying to do some research. For every reference you find that says brown you'll find another that says black so do not end up going round in circles and take the option you like best.

and that's what we are going to do ;)

Mario

I think you go with what looks best, you can only paint what's on the figures feet and I'd take a gamble and suggest he owned more than one pair of shoes or boots. No point in stressing over details that can't be pinpointed to exactly what he wore on any given day, maybe he even changed his foot wear half way through the day because one pair got wet, who knows.

Give the brown boots on the last figure I'd go with that because they were brilliant.

Here a little update ,

First, yes pictures are from me not my son,so they are crap :) sorry

The face is done, but I consider to get over again with matt varnish, not sure, gonna see, hope the color for the pants are OK,but I will do it with the stippling Technic ,but I failed
also the jacket I like to do the stippling, this is now in the base color (the jacket) the figure also.

Now I see also on the pic, that the pants maybe must have darker shades ??? all comments are absolute very welcome,I like to have this one good,I have used British brown
and another color.

here you see the pictures, thank you

Coming along nicely, the face is good but I'd suggest a little more work on the hair and tash, those bushy eyebrows as well. The trousers and jacket look good as do the boots, some nice work there Mario.

Good progress so far.
As for the shoes/boots debate. I wonder if they could be standard ammo boots? The toes look like it.
As for the colour, in the photograph of him in the chair, he's obviously wearing Black shoes/boots....

Edited, as I was mixing Brogues and Oxfords and making soup...
