Hello my Friends.
Part of the collar of this kit has mysteriously broken(Cat I reckon),I have touched in the colours but was wondering what I could do to make it look better.
Any advice would be most welcome.
All the best.
Ralph.

Hi Ralph

Definately name the cat ...next doors ....nosey ! LOL

Mick's idea good I wouldn't actually secure the head use blu tack then once you have basic shape let it harden , sand to shape then put the actual lacework on ....

Patience !

Must admit dashed fine uniform colour there mate , nice highs and shadows

Keep us updated

Cheers Nap:).
I tried Micks way and to be honest I made more of a mess than what I started with:eek::censored: .
So my thinking now is, the poor bloke managed to get shot in the neck(none fatal) and in the heat of battle grabbed any old piece of rag and wrapped it around his neck with the rag managing to cover the collar of his uniform.
What do you reckon to this idea Nap?.
As for the cat(Girly) she has managed to nick paint brushes(never to be seen again)I was also working on some 1/35 figures for a small diorama and 1 of the figures went missing.
She is just a Vandal and a bird killer as she keeps bringing us birds(probably thinks it's a fair swap).
All the best.
Ralph.

Hi Ralph

You do need to let the putty go off a lot to work with it easier ..well that's what I found out !

It's sound fine to me and of course it's what you are happy doing mate

Blimey you have a carpet and a cat monster ....

Whatever you do enjoy it

If youre using Milliput, rough it out, then leave it for about 30-40mins, then shape it. It can be a bit sticky when you first put it on, but as it starts to harden, it holds its shape better.......(y)

How about using some type of modelling clay that doesn't harden as a backing? I have used plasticine to really good effect. Looking at the damaged area you posted, I think you could use some of that to fill in where the head would go, and mold it to replicate the contour of the collar, then used your miliput, magi sculpt or whatever and blend that into the damaged area. After that has cured over night, remove the plasticine and your should be good. I've used this method to sculpt flags, kilts and other types of cloth on figures and it has worked really well. I hope I'm explaining myself clearly enough and best of luck, I'm sure you'll get it sorted out in good time regardless of the method.

Cheers ghamilt:).
That does explain it really well.

Sorry for my delay. If it helps I can send you a new body and you could cut the collar off, or redo if things don't work out on this one but I realise all the hard work will go then. Please message or email me and as always any part is replaced free and a new body is no problem
Best wishes
