A figure i have been working on over on the Small Builds Historex site of FB. I have spent most of today before getting my Granddaughter back for a few days to finish this fella. He is an Husar de Ontoria from the first Carlist War 1833 to 39, they were a part of the Army of the North and one of the best equipped cavalry units of the Carlist forces.

Under all the conversion work he is a Historex figure from various spares, the saddle is almost completely rebuilt. Painted in acrylics apart from the horse which was done with oils.

The pelisse is unique to this Regiment in that it is a black fur or fleece garment also the Regiment were reported to have had a skull and cross bones lance pennon.

All I need to do now is put him in the cabinet to gather dust with all the others and give me time to crack on with other projects for a while.

Victor, Oda, Mobo, Kev, Neil, Steve and Melanie, thank you all so much for all your kind words. I have been building this one over on Small Groups Build Historex on FB, next project I'll do what Paul does and show it on both platforms, it'll be much easier to remember where I am. Just got one commercial figure to finish painting and I'll crack on with a two figure build, in the mean time I'm full time Grandad until Thursday morning.

Cheers Simon

An unusual subject, well painted as well. That's a good rendition of a horse.

Cheers BP, I need more practice and to find a method that works better for me as my current approach is keep throwing paint at it until it looks OK.

Cheers Simon

A great conversion Simon, really bringing out the best in what you can do with Historex. Am intriguing subject, a great conversion and a lovely animation. The paint job sets it off beautifully, well done.

Nice figure, Simon! You're having fun with horses these days, aren't you? I'll second Nigel on subject, your conversion work and your animation, too. That's a nice addition to your collection.

Prost!
