I polished the bare metal then brushed burnt umber over it. I continued brushing until the metal was shiiny but bronzy. When it dried I painted over top with Tamiya clear yellow. The center of the shield was left without the clear yellow coating.

Not bad right now just -16 C. Going to - 20's tomorrow and hopefully no colder. But of course thats just a dream.
