So work continues on this piece.

I'm happy ish with the gloves, they may get some more work. Satchel fabric sorted, buttons etc next.

Palette for the gloves is GW Snakebite Leather, Then GW Blazing Orange, next AV Basic Skintone and finally GW Scorched Brown glazed over everything. I also used AV Burnt Umber to set really dark areas and all colours were used to over glaze previous layers to get some depth to the finish. Finally a very diluted layer of Klear with Scorched Brown added was glazed over areas of minimal wear.

Like I said I'm happy ish

The devil may be in the detail but it's whats needed to finish most pieces

I added freehand brass number 2's as they are just visible on the original art work...

Dry assembled to check how it all balances out...

Not sure about the eyes.....

Nice, glad you reminded me about the numbers on the patches! The best pic I found is this one for the 3rd Tyneside Irish, you can see the holes where the number was.

I like very much how you handle the colors, light, shadowing and transitions. I always see your skin tones very natural and the treatment of diferent materials, like wood, leather, metals etc. I don´t know why you doubt about the eyes, maybe the right iris is too close to the inside corner?
