I use Easy Off oven cleaner to strip my figures. Works like a champ.
Spray and let soak. If I'm in a hurry, an hour usually does the trick. With maybe a second application if needed.
If not, then overnight or even 24 hours.
Has never hurt any resin or white metal figure I've jued it to strip.

PS: Don't cgo for the cheap off brands. I tried that once and was not happy with the results :(

kevin,
I use spiritus(methanol) to strip my figures. bare in mind that you don't want your figure to long in this fluid, because it weaks the resin.
I normally use an old brush and give it a rub.

Easy-Off is a pretty safe bet Kevin, you could also try brake fluid if that's something you can easily get your hands on. Castrol Super Clean is a great stripper, very safe apparently, but harder to get these days. Previous thread here.

Since you asked in relation to resin, be cautious trying acetone or any stronger solvents since they could soften detail or actually begin to 'melt' the stuff in the worst case.

I use Pine Sol, but don't know if it would strip the primer (or if that if even a concern). have heard something called Purple Power is even better.

Fairy Power Spray
Leave to soak for 10 minutes then an old toothbrush(I use the wife's).
Works every time and won't damage the resin.

I use Dawn Power Dissolver for stripping acrylic paints. It can be purchased for $3 at Walmart (if in the US)... cover mini liberally and let it sit for 10-15 min, then use a soft/medium toothbrush. Sometimes a second or third coat, at the most, is required. I've quite mastered this as all my mini's are stripped many times over :wideyed:.

Second the recommendation to use Super Clean, I still find it at WalMart without problem. I used to use oven cleaner, but swapped it for Super Clean, much easier to use, not nearly as caustic in terms of vapors or contact to your skin as the lye in oven cleaner, and the bitchin' part is that you can fill a container and use the same batch of SC over and over. I also added SC to my battery of cleaning media, along with mineral spirits, isopropyl and lacquer thinner.

Hope that helps, prosit!
Brad

I should add that I find that SC will strip paint in minutes. I used it to remove the chrome from a fret of chromed parts for a car kit; the sprues were absolutely clean in under 3 minutes. Paint takes anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes to soften and dissolve, though I'll usually let a piece soak longer while I do something else.
