Having had a bit of time to reflect on the show it just gets better and better. Looking forward to S&L 2016
Amongst a wealth of highlights I'd like to comment on 3 that hugely impressed me.
1. Richies fantastic 'Trapped Like Rats'. Everytime I looked at this, no matter from what angle I kept seeing new little details.
Particularly impressive was the range of movement achieved and the way that each figure interacted directly and indirectly with those around it.
This piece along with the magnificent and original work shown in his club display is a tour de force from a modeller passionate about the subject matter of his choice.
2. The rusty White Truck by one of the younger modellers in the competition. A very well deserved gold for this piece. The rusted and rusting effect achieved was simply excellent and doing this on a white vehicle is a daunting challenge for even the most experienced modeller.
3. Over the years we've been treated to Roger's (billyturnip) journey into the alchemy of flat figure painting. It was a pleasure to see his recent work in the flesh and I'd always thought he'd taken very good pictures of his work but believe me the photos do no justice to his work ...... outstanding.
Cheers
