I have a Le Cimier Tambour Major bust that I'm looking to paint in a scheme other than the standard Guard Infantry...the other day I did a Google and found a picture of a tambour major in a yellow jacket (allegedly the 67th line infantry; I have no other source for a guide than the early (original) edition of the Osprey Guard Infantry book (bought ca. 1974) Can someone point me in the direction of a color guide for this unit...or of any unit other than the Guard Infantry...Thanx.

Hi Chris,

Like many fans of the Napoleonic Period I have many books on the Subject. These were taken from one book in the 10 part set by Bucquoy....these are from Book 4 "L'Infanterie

There is a company in Russia who sell PDF's of these books-If you want to go that route PM me..................Claude

Thank you my friend...unfortunately I don't have the Bucquoy books ( but that's a GREAT clue) I did pick up one of the John Elting Napoleonic Uniform books (Vol 1) about 20 years ago for a whopping 5 bux....at a book clearance - one of those stores the set up business for a month, (then disappear before the landlord comes looking for his rent), selling books off a 4x8 sheet of plywood set up on sawhorses...I bought EVERY ONE they had and gave the extras to my bud to sell at the Atlanta Show the following year...just went to my book shelf and located it...the first time I've cracked it since I bought it...dunno if it has any tambour majors but I'll give it a thorough check....Before I blab on without end, I must thank you for taking the time to scan these photos and post them!!! As soon as I figure how to PM you I will do so....and here I thought I had a good collection of art sources (of course I have TONS of the Osprey books, just not the one I NEED for this instance)!!!

Sincerely,
