Hi Bob, thanks mate. I cheated a bit and used Tamiya masking tape to get the initial line spacing right and then did everything else freehand.
Thanks Alan, I'm humbled by your comments.
Hi Nicolae, thanks mate. I did a bit more work on the dagger last night and will add a Burnt Umber wash over it once I've completed the shading of the robes.
Hi Nige, as you can see from the photo below, I've painted the gold thread into the robe using a mixture of Vallejo Old Gold, Josonja Raw Sienna and Pearl White. The bust now has a shimmering pearlescent look to it which isn't metallic but has a silky sheen - exactly the effect I was after.
Hi Brian, thanks mate. I'm still not completely satisfied with one or two minor details. The eyes remain a concern. A number of people have observed that they don't appear to be aligned correctly and I'll have to do some touch ups before I'm happy.
Hi Joe, thanks for your feedback on the eyes. Yes, the left eye does appear to be lazy and I'll look to fix it tonight. I'm very happy with the base but there's virtually no space for a plaque.
So, as discussed, I've painted a series of fine horizontal stripes across the pale brown stripes of the robe to simulate the look of gold thread. I've also boosted the highlights on the white stripes on the robe by adding Pearl White. What do you think?
