This is right up my street!!! great idea for the Miniart figures, have converted one in the past to a centurion, with a bit of work they are very useable.
Really looking forward to more of this one.
Steve

Changed the right hand figure into a stabbing motion, pinning the shoulder/arm joints at an early stage enable these kind of changes for the right look and composition.

Miniart figures are great for conversions. Not expensive, reasonable detailing and anatomy, but they do need some TLC to polish them up. I dont think that the kits are being produced anymore, so get them while you can..!!(y)
I agree, I’ve found a cheap source at only £11 each, seems expensive when you buy a few. Far cheaper than resin with more options for converting, that’s what I like doing so like these a lot.

Amazon has them at £11.99 (free P&P if Prime) : Miniart 1:16 Scale Roman Legionary II century A.D. Plastic Model Kit: Amazon.co.uk: Toys & Games

... and this guy at £12.58 inc P&P : Great deals from Model Hobbies Limited on MiniArt 1/16 Roman Legionary | eBay Shops (ebaystores.co.uk)
(seems to have most of the range ond offer discounts for multiple purchases: Great deals from Model Hobbies Limited on MiniArt 1/16 | eBay Shops (ebaystores.co.uk))

I just picked one up from Amazon for £8.08 (damaged box it says... let's hope the contents are OK).

Yes, I meant £11.99 not £11 from Amazon, really good prices right now. Just ordered a couple more and going to use their arms and legs for some Iceni, will sculpt some parts but it saves me time and can use their kit for other things in the scene.

I’m going to attempt sculpting some torsos using the legs from a couple of these guys, will be quite a challenge but looking forward to it. :)

Excellent project and very informative and I wouldn't be surprised if you have started something that will inspire many to have a wee crack at converting, I had a 120mm Agincourt project in mind several years ago and in my naivety started gathering up Verlinden Knights to discover that they were all shapes and sizes and could not be grouped so project shelved, so for me your 1/16 project will be a pleasure to follow.

The composition is really striking with the central figure being taller and then both flanks sloping down, guy on his knees adds a nice bit of interest.
On a side note, hope those two rounds of ammunition on the back shelf in the photo are inert  :)
Cheers

Thank you kind sir, well naivety usually gets me into trouble as well. So far so good, however my replacement heads from another manufacturer are far to small, so what I’m going to do is convert the heads on the figures to give some variation. More work than I had intended, but as they say, nothing ventured nothing gained.

Thank you Steve, I’m contemplating on expanding the scene, it was my original intention to do that anyway but I like the current composition as it has balance. The current figure positions are set so will try both and go with the best option.

and yes, the ammo is inert, or I hope it is or the Muckleburgh collection are selling live ammo to their punters via their shop lol :)
