Hi Marcus

Said it before but no matter what you model it's great to see and now in a larger scale opens up the possibilities for so much more

.....and your expanding the scene as well .......bring it on

Happy putty pushing

Slight change of plan, other kits turned up and having never worked in 1/16 before I hadn’t realised the variance in scale from different manufacturers, like silly scale difference. As they say necessity is the mother of invention, so rather than create a battle scene with Iceni warriors I’m going with Legionnaires and Roman army only so adapting the same figure multiple times, with the viewer being the imaginary enemy watching the scene.

I like to create figurative dioramas that are full of drama, action and inter relationships in the scene and that work three dimensionally from all angles, so concentrating on that.

I’ve added a couple more figures and will convert the figure (at the back) looking for a target for his Pilum (javelin) into a Tesserarius.

Thank you mate, really enjoying modelling this scene, realise it has a long way to go but I like to set the composition and basic figure shapes, so I can then work to refine and detail each one individually. Making slight adjustments here and there. The multiple decisions will hopefully make an enjoyable final model. :)

I love it, my kind of project. I like the inclusion of the guy with the clipped oval shield, adds some variety. I might have missed it, but is the guy on the ground going to be a Centurion or Optio?

Thank you, I might swap the oval shield to one of those in the front line, I was reading that that curved scutum was not always common in the ranks in Roman Britain, and agree it gives more variety.

I looked into the officer ranks and going to turn him into a Tesserarius, the fella standing at the back. From the deployments I’ve seen they tended to be at the rear directing the men in battle, so it seems the right thing to do; his plume will give a central focus and height in the middle of the scene and less to convert to a centurion.

I have a number of these Miniart kits, so I know what a challenge any one of them can be! To do this many in a single scene is really something!
Thank you. Never used them before, quite a bit of clean up required but considering how few parts there are for each they go together well and easily converted. :)

Hi Marcus

Been looking at the various views more ...really good composition it's interesting to a mere mortal like me how you build up things like the upper arms

Thanks for all the pictures great to look at

Thank you mate, I’m doing a lot of sitting and looking at this scene myself trying to get the balance right before moving on the detail. I love to be engrossed in a project like this.
