The horses have now been completed and attached to bases. I will take some pictures later showing how I attach horse to the bases.
I tend to make notes for myself of what I hope to achieve with the figures. The poses, animation, reference details, etc. It helps me remember stuff as I go along through each stage.
The body halves have had thin shims inserted to "beef up" them up. Heads were attached to smaller pieces of plastic to increase the neck and chest muscles.
The head positions were changed; turning, leaning, etc.
I cut open the mouths, inserted teeth and tongues and gave the jaws some movement. I hope the photos show these details.
Sorry, 'SBS' I found rather time consuming, so I opted for detailed progress pics. I also drilled through the side of the mouths and inserted brass bits for later.
Manes, tails (docked)and horseshoes were then added.

Here are the horses finished, with the limber and cannon somewhat in position.
Over the years I have tried several methods and materials for a working base. I have found that the plastic base that comes with the Historex kits works best.
I glue the hooves to the base and re-inforce the figure with metal rods.(bent paper clips)
These are easy to handle for painting. When finished, I slice the figure off the base and cut the rods. Any marks left by the rod is easily hidden by the surcingle or a saddle.
I'm taking some time off for the Holidays. Have the Merriest Christmas. See you in the new year.
Cheers!
